Assistant Professor of Surgery and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
Dr. Alyssa Vela is a clinical health psychologist and assistant professor of surgery and psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine. She works clinically with the interdisciplinary advanced heart failure team as a cardiac behavioral medicine specialist. She is also the co-chair of the Department of Surgery DEI committee and teaches a course and small groups for graduate students in psychology and medical students. She is passionate about lifestyle interventions for cardiometabolic health, including designing and studying culturally considerate interventions.
