Elevate your self care routine with practical advice and ideas a must listen for holistic health enthusiast. This is the healthy lifestyle solutions podcast and I'm your host Maya Acosta. If you're willing to go with me, together, we can discover how simple lifestyle choices can help improve our quality of life and increase our longevity in a good way. Let's get started. Hi friends, Maya here with the healthy lifestyle solutions podcast. Just a quick recording to say thank you for being a listener. And really just to connect with you. We've been pretty busy Dr. Is and I with in person events. And then I just completed almost like three webinars in a row. My most recent webinar has been with Michelle and Dean Yasuda, who are life coaches. And they're trained by the Hendrix Institute as big leap coaches. And that was such a wonderful conversation that I had, I'm going to link the webinar that is on YouTube, to this recording so that you can visit it. There's so much more work that I'll be doing with Michelle who is my life coach, you might often hear me talk about her and how I've seen improvements in my personal life and in my relationship with my husband. And so in that webinar, we introduced a Couples Retreat that she's bringing into Dallas, and we will be bringing her back on the show and doing more webinars so that you can become familiar with her work and her strategies. And then I hosted Dr. Laurie Marvis on alive, which Instagram Live, which was a lot of fun. I loved it so much that I think I'm going to do that regularly. And in that one live, she told us that she will be starting a CG am mastermind now CGM is a device that you put on your arm to sort of monitor your blood sugar throughout the day. And you know, she wants to offer support that way for people that want to bring balance into their life. And also, we know that if you can manage your blood sugar, and you can improve your type two diabetes. And then the following day, I had another webinar with Dr. Colin zoo, this was more of his introducing a group coaching program for people who are interested in weight loss. So I'm going to include all of these links in the show notes for you in case you're interested in this kind of support. And you know, I just really wanted to connect and tell you what's been going on with us and all the other offerings that I have. And I'd love to hear from you. What things are you enjoying, that we're offering. So last month, we had, I think it was last month we hosted Dr. Laurie Marva is here in Dallas, we had about 120 people that showed up to watch the documentary that she's in and to answer and for her to answer questions about this way of living a plant forward diet. And then like I said, we've been doing webinars, we do our monthly walks. And there are so many other things that we're getting involved in. So I'd love to hear from you. What resonates with you the most, what fills your cup, what sort of events and activities support you. So please let me know, you can always message me and also in this recording, I want to read some reviews that you all have been leaving. And I really appreciate that there's at the end of every recording, I always give you a link to where you can leave reviews, but you can also leave them on the actual app on Apple. You go all the way down to where it says write a review, and that's how you can do it. So this is the most recent one left by the dream coach and it says health is everything as someone whose significant other recently had major surgery. I've seen firsthand how important the role of nutrition is in promoting recovery. Dr. clappers talk about nutrition especially a plant based diet is a must listen for anyone looking to improve their health and vitality. We have this other one left by Michelle Henderson. She titled it empowering wellness tune in daily to healthy lifestyle solutions for a wealth of wellness wisdom Mayas insightful guidance covers a body mind and soul featuring valuable guest insights and his standout doctor in the house segment. Elevate your self care routine with practical advice and ideas a must listen for holistic health enthusiast you know what, Michelle, thank you for that review. you summarize it nicely many times when I try to explain to people what the podcast is about. I'm trying to grab up from, you know, using words like lifestyle medicine and experts that I bring, but you're right, we do cover body, mind and soul. And it is a holistic approach in many ways. So thank you for that review. Okay, we have Andy Cohn, who says, Love it super well done great guests I listened straight through, which surprised me a bit because this isn't exactly in my wheelhouse. So how cool is that? Really well done and somewhat captivating. That's a good thing. I stopped in listened and left knowing about things I've never thought I'd known. Pretty cool. All right. Thank you, Andy, for that comment. Okay, here's another one by Dr. Maura Hanna simple but powerful health conversation. I love the concept of downshifting as a way of life to help minimize and manage stress I hadn't heard it talked about in quite this way before, the recommendations feel doable. And that's our whole goal. By the way, whenever we talk about transitioning to a healthier lifestyle, or adopting the pillars of lifestyle medicine, we always say to you know, have a plan, and make doable changes not to try to do things overnight. Because that's sort of like that goal mentality that you want to make a significant change overnight, and then a few days later, you lose your enthusiasm for pursuing that goal. So that's what we try to do on this podcast is give you practical tips to make those changes. By the way, friends, if you are not aware, there's a BlueZone series that will be featured on Netflix starting August 30. And this is with Dan Buettner, who really wrote about the blue zone, Blue Zone living. And he will be, it looks like it's going to be a series of interviews or content that will be covered on longevity. And I'm going to invite you to watch the series in our Mondays segment, doctor in the house, Dr. Oz, and I will actually be addressing one episode a week, really digesting what we watch. And we'd love for you to be part of that conversation. And we may even consider going live for this one, just because we want to encourage you to read more on longevity and BlueZone living. And because that really correlates nicely with lifestyle medicine, which is what we talk about. lifestyle medicine consists of six pillars, the first one being one of the most important, which is adopting a plan forward lifestyle. So incorporating more plants, and more plant foods like fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, lots of grains, nuts and seeds into your diet, there's been an association with having more nutrients in those foods living longer. They help you to reduce inflammation and really boost your health improve your gut microbiome. So there's so many benefits to having a plant forward lifestyle. Number two, we really touch on physical activity, we want to encourage you to get out there and be physically active in your community, whether it be doing household chores, or walking with our group, every third Saturday of the month, or just getting out and being active with your family, your loved ones is so important so that you can continue to have that physical ability as you age. And then number three is restorative sleep. And so that's one thing that people struggle with a lot. So we do bring sleep specialists on the show to talk about that. Number four stress management, which can look like meditation and doing yoga and breathing exercises. So many of the specialists that come on our show do I actually practice those kinds of techniques I can help with managing stress. Number five is building healthy relationships. And this is where we're starting to bring on experts like Michelle and Dean Yasuda, who are trained in, you know, creating harmonious relations relationships, they talk to us about the fears that can contribute to conflict in a relationship and how we can resolve them through somatic physical exercises like moving your body to melt some of those fears away, and I'm really enjoying having them. And number six is really moving away from those substances that can take away from our quality of life, like drinking alcohol and smoking. And so yes,
